General Manager Appointment - Jesse Dargue
Jesse joined Rural Livestock as General Manager in February 2021, having previously worked as GM for Peter Walsh & Associates Ltd (PWA). He was with PWA for three years, and really enjoyed working closely with Peter & Karen Walsh in the Livestock & Finance businesses. Jesse really loves the challenges that the livestock industry brings. He enjoys meeting and working with people and is passionate about helping people to develop and achieve their goals. Jesse has always been close to farming and has enjoyed becoming involved with livestock again after growing up in a sheep and beef farming family in the North of England.
Prior to PWA, Jesse managed Ashburton Lyndhurst Irrigation Ltd for 15 years, a co-operative irrigation scheme serving 30,000 ha in Mid-Canterbury between Methven and Ashburton. For the last 5 years in that role, he was primarily involved in the $110 million upgrade of the delivery system from open races (canals) to a gravity pressurised pipeline system - a challenging but very rewarding project.
Jesse completed his BSc (Hons) degree in Agriculture at Harper Adams University in the UK before starting a stonework business in his home village in Cumbria, North of England, mainly rebuilding drystone walls. He and his now wife, Susan moved to New Zealand in 1999 and now have three teenage boys. They enjoy following their boys’ various sports in their spare time.
Jesse is really looking forward to getting to know the Rural Livestock clients and is excited about the opportunities and challenges ahead and what can be achieved by the Rural Livestock team for their clients.
