**David joined Rural livestock as a livestock agent in February 2026, bringing with him more than 30 years of farming and livestock marketing experience across South Africa and New Zealand. **

David was born in South Africa and immigrated to New Zealand in June 2019. He initially settled in Hamilton before moving to Timaru in February 2026. David began farming in 1993 on his family farm in South Africa, starting out in grain farming before transitioning into cattle and game farming after relocating to the Free State in 2005. Since arriving in New Zealand, he has worked on both dairy and bull farms, continuing to build on his extensive agricultural experience.


For 14 years, David managed his own cattle marketing in South Africa, which sparked his passion for livestock marketing and ultimately led him to pursue a career as a livestock agent in New Zealand.

Outside of work, David enjoys spending time outdoors with family and friends around the BBQ, as well as hunting and fishing. He is motivated by the chance "to go out every day and try to make a difference."

David believes farming is in his blood and sees it as a privilege to work with farmers every day. As an agent David will always try to have the farmers best interests at heart and to deliver the best possible service and outcome for them.
